Exclusions and limitations
You will not be covered for death or disability within the first 12 months if the claim is in any way related to willful self-inflicted injury or suicide.
You cannot claim for unemployment or inability to earn an income if you were retrenched, or your employment was terminated within the first 3 months from the start of this cover. You cannot claim if you were aware that you would be retrenched or if you received a notice of retrenchment during the 3 months before the start of this cover. You cannot claim for loss of income or inability to earn an income if you resigned, were dismissed, retired, self-employed, took voluntarily retrenchment or participated in an unprotected strike and criminal activity. Where you have successfully claimed for unemployment or inability to earn an income, you will have cover for up to 12 loan instalments or until you are employed whichever is shorter.
In the case of a temporary disability that affects your ability to earn an income, you will have cover for up to 12 loan instalments or until you are no longer disabled, whichever is shorter.
Critical Illness resulting from: A Pre-Existing Medical Condition means any illness or condition that you have (or should reasonably have) received, or have been recommended to receive, medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment prior to the Start Date of your Critical Illness cover. No claim will be paid for any illness or condition that was caused or accelerated by a Pre-Existing Medical Condition. In addition, no claim will be paid if the date of the covered risk event or medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment occurred prior to the Start Date of the Plan, or within a defined waiting period.
